Agronomy Customer Service Adviser

Our Client develops and market software products to fertilizer/chemical retailers, grain elevators, and agricultural cooperatives throughout the United States and Canada. The line of products includes a Windows-based double-entry accounting package designed specifically for these agricultural industries.

Job Description

The customer support staff at Our Client has a diverse mixture of educational and work experience backgrounds that allow us to respond to a wide range of questions related to the operation of our Our Clients software. Our Clients support department offers a challenging opportunity for people with strong agronomic and communication skills. This position entails the following activities:

  • Customer Service - Quality customer service is an important part of our business. Providing assistance on the most effective use of Our Clients suite of products is essential to customer satisfaction.
  • Research - Customer calls vary in difficulty and sometimes require additional research to test the functionality of Our Clients software in a particular situation or checking on the regulations governing agronomic activities in the customer's region of the country.
  • Training - Training is important to the successful implementation of Our Clients Software Depending on the need, training can occur in training lab, at the customer site, or remotely via the Internet.

Experience / Skills Required

The person filling this position will be talking to our customers' staff agronomists. This could be helping them configure Our Clients Software to develop recommended fertility/chemical/seed programs for their growers, regulatory documentation required to keep them in compliance, or reviewing a specific process of the program. The topics vary as does the aptitude of our customers and their ability to communicate those issues. New members of our Agronomy support team go through several months of training before taking customer calls. Mentors are provided along with opportunities to observe some of our seasoned support members. The following skills are required of the person filling this position:

  • Agronomy-related degree • Two years experience in the Ag retail industry
  • Solid understanding of Ag Retail operations • Excellent communication skills
  • Articulate speech (excellent grammar, clear enunciation)
